Bridge of Community Council is made up of local residents whose purpose is to represent the people of BOW in their dealings with Renfrewshire Council.

Community Councils were established in Scottish law in 1973. Renfrewshire Council put in place a new framework in 2019. Community Councils are voluntary bodies, governed by law, but not part of local government.

The main purpose of a Community Council is to "ascertain, co-ordinate and express to the local authority and to public authorities the views of the community and to take action in the interests of the community as appears expedient and practicable".
